Waycross Family YMCA

Mission Statement:
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

What Really Matters at the YMCA

YMCA Purpose
The Young Men's Christian Association we regard as being a worldwide fellowship of persons united by a common loyalty to Jesus Christ for the purpose of developing Christian personality and building a Christian society.

The Meaning of the YMCA "John" Logo
The Greek letters Chi (X) and Rho (P) form the ancient symbol for Christ. It is in the center to remind us that Christ is at the center of the YMCA movement. The triangle represents Matthew 22:37 - "Love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind." John 17:21 is Christ's prayer to God the Father - "That they all may be one. as we are one." The inner circle represents friendship and love without end. The outside circle represents oneness of mankind.

What we Promote
The Waycross Family YMCA openly promotes Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Chapel time, prayer, Bible reading and scripture memorization are a regular part of many of the Y's programs. Anyone who wishes to become a Christian can do so according to the Bible:

  1. Admit that you are a sinner and be willing to turn from your sin.
  2. Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died for your sins
  3. Confess Jesus as Lord by calling upon His name in faith for your salvation.
A person that will truly repent from his/her sin by turning to Jesus can have salvation today. When a person has Jesus in his/her heart, the Bible says that he/she is "born again". Do you have Jesus in your heart? Where will you spend eternity?
